Click start, type "Turn windows features on", click the result or find it in control panel , then check the box in front of "SMB 1. The content you requested has been removed. Ask a question. Quick access. Search related threads. Remove From My Forums.
Asked by:. Archived Forums. My initial attempts have mostly been with the desktop version of NK. When I start, SMB0: is running as smbserver.
I wonder if it's necessary for the SMB registry settings to be available at boot time? My devices is NOT using a hive-based registry, so the registry settings aren't available a boot time. I'd hoped that refreshing the SMB server process would be enough to get file sharing going. That way, I can just set the registry values programatically in my application program, restart the SMB service, and not have to rebuild the kiosk NK. It would be "interesting" to rebuild NK. As you can see, I've temporarily turned authentication off - I'm hoping to start by getting this to work in the CE desktop environment, and then add authentication, and getting it to work in the kiosk environment.
Keep Default set to 1. If this is set to zero 0 , the DLL will be unloaded immediately after initialization. The SMB server does not require a hive-based registry. We've used it on multiple projects with only a RAM-based registy. Windows 7 and above, by default, require NTLM version 2. On Windows 7, run secpol. Windows clients will attempt directory queries with 1 MB buffers to reduce round trips and improve performance. In SMB 3. For details, see SMB 3.
Enables rolling cluster upgrades by letting SMB appear to support different max versions of SMB for clusters in the process of being upgraded. Adds native support for querying the normalized name of a file. For details, see FileNormalizedNameInformation. Improves scalability and manageability for Scale-Out File Servers. SMB client connections are tracked per file share instead of per server , and clients are then redirected to the cluster node with the best access to the volume used by the file share.
This improves efficiency by reducing redirection traffic between file server nodes. Clients are redirected following an initial connection and when cluster storage is reconfigured.
Windows 8. This results in a significant performance improvement. These improvements are evident when using higher speed network interfaces, such as 40 Gbps Ethernet and 56 Gbps InfiniBand. Enables administrators to perform hardware or software maintenance of nodes in a clustered file server without interrupting server applications storing data on these file shares.
Also, if a hardware or software failure occurs on a cluster node, SMB clients transparently reconnect to another cluster node without interrupting server applications that are storing data on these file shares. This provides better utilization of network bandwidth and load balancing of the file server clients, and optimizes performance for server applications. Enables aggregation of network bandwidth and network fault tolerance if multiple paths are available between the SMB client and server.
This enables server applications to take full advantage of all available network bandwidth and be resilient to a network failure.
