At the lower location, you can see a set of forward and backward buttons, which allows you to find different files versions and then restore them. Click the Restore button, it will be restored to origincal location. Also, you can click the Settings icone and Restore to manually choose a differnet location. Backup and Restore Windows 7 is mainly used to make a system image, but you still can use it to backup files by "Let me choose" option.
You can use internal hard drive, external hard drive or network drive as backup destination. Then, you can restore files when needed. You can go to backup settings window and then scroll down to " Looking for an older backup " section, click " Go to Backup and Restore Windows 7 " to access the backup page. Then, you will see all the available backup destination below, select your external hard drive.
Also, you can click "Save on a network Next, tick " Let me choose " when you asked "What do you want to back up? It allows you to select libraries and folders per your needs. The "Let Windows choose recommended " option is a more worry-free way, but it will include the system image backup by default.
In the following window, tick items under Data Files. The " Include a system image of drives Here you need to review the backup settings and click " Save settings and run backup ", then it will start the first backup.
The default schedule backup is PM every Sunday, but you still change it by "Change schedule" option. After you complete the first full backup, you can manage backup space in the "Backup and Restore Windows 7 " window.
