Kotor tsl vista fix

If not, why do you think they have not said exactly what file is read? It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum. It launches fine for me in Vista, once I replaced the mss Never got one "invalid disk" error. But I have no sound, and everything I've tried to make sound work has been ineffective. C'est la vie , I guess. It runs barely on minimum settings on my old XP laptop, so I can play it when I want to.

I run TSL on Vista Home Premium, and while the program frequently has trouble starting and has crashed during the switch to or from the cutscenes, it otherwise runs without trouble so far, though I'll admit that I've only actually played it until I reached Citadel Station.

Mostly it's a question of getting the program to start, which can take a few tries. But it runs, it does so smoothly for me. When I go to the SecuROM site and it tells me to right click the icon and choose launch analysis, i can't find it anywhere. Could anyone offer a little insight. Thanks in advance. Where is the Launch Analysis button? Right clicked the shortcut on my desktop- to no avail. I'm not sure if you'll need all that, but if you figured out a system from it, it would be the greatest in the world.

Hate to do a shameless bump, but I'd rather like to play my game. Where would "Launch analysis" be? If it worked for you, then for all that's good in the world, please say where the launch analysis button is. Pretty please? Let me put it another way. What did you do to get your game to fix the "Invalid Disk" error, assuming you got it?

Any sugestions?? I Have Replaced This Mss I would also like to note, replacing the new dll file also erases all of your saved games that, or starting a new game, it was around that time I noticed all my save files gone. Are you sure they're gone? Once inside the KOTOR folder scroll down and you will see a file called swkotor2 its a Configuration setting file, not the Application file.

It wont run at If this works and the game runs, at the title screen go to options, then graphics, then click the screen resolution button.

Change it to x and it will make the window a little larger. Last edited by Buzzkil88 ; 12 Mar, pm. Showing 1 - 15 of 88 comments. I tried this, and it helped a little, but the cinematic after the title crawl crashes the game. I couldn't find an in-game option to disable movies, so I tried changing the 'Disable Movies' option in that file to 0 it was 1 originally. I admit that I'm about as useful as a kitten at these kinds of things.

Any thoughts? All of the cinematics still play too. Last edited by Buzzkil88 ; 17 Jul, pm. I ran the game after the above fix , it crashed twice randomly within an hour, so i then went and got the mod and have had almost no problems since.

Unless i window out of the game Display Drivers crash. It is still important to read all the directions put forth by mod authors but these instructions should help you if you run into trouble. Recommended mods. Up to date as of March 22, I will try to keep this list up do date as best I can. If you have any suggestions for the list please let me know. There is also a spoiler-free version of the build- HERE. Mod Name: Video link. An ongoing series of mods that attempt to recreate the textures of each planet in HD.

This is not an upscale but a complete reworking of the textures that attempts to stay loyal to the original vision while providing crisp HD visuals. Telos Board Overhaul : Video. An amazing mod that makes all the Advertisments on Telos look incredible. Casino Pazaak Animated : Video. A mod that takes the Pazaak board and brings it to the future.

Featuring 4K textures and a cool animation this mod will make the endless card sessions much more visually enjoyable. Xarrwarz Kotor Series: Video. An alternative to the OTE series this texture pack reimagines many of the enviroments to be a bit different. It is not as lore friendly, but it is both less taxing on your system and complete unlike the OTE series. IMO most of the areas look better than vanilla so if you want all the plaents to have new textures then it is worth trying out this one.

The Vanilla Nar Shaddaa Skybox looks Install this mod and that will be fixed. This is one of the few mods that will never leave my load order. Sith Holocron's Holocron : Video. Improves the textures of the Holocrons found in the game. It makes them a bit more lore-like. Movie Mandalorians : Video. New models for all Mandalorians in the game to make them look to be made in style of Jango and Boba Fett. Also improves the textures of said models to It also tweaks the fights in the battle arena with the Mandos and also adds some new weapons and armor.

Extended Enclave : Video. This mod extends the Rebuilt Enclave sequence near the end of the game. There is so many great lines in this one that I would not pass it up. This is one of the only mods I considered moving up into the main guide due to how impressive it is. Holowan Duplisaber Project : Video outdated but still covers basics. If you are planning to use a hilt mod this should be the one. It essentially adds a mechanic to the game that allows you to customize your lightsaber. You can change the color, the hilt and it features cool new hilt models.

There are 59 total saber hilts to choose from, and 13 different colours, meaning possibilities. It is still in Beta now but from what ive seen it works fine.

A word of warning though there are some bugs with this mod so use it at your own risk. The main screen is not changed?

Make sure you installed the mod to the correct directory. This will happen for one of two reasons 1 You failed to follow the steps. Kotor 2 has issues with this resolution and may either crash or cause the dialogue to be cut off the bottom of the screen If this is the case set the resolution to x Some people have confirmed this to work, but for others it causes a crash.

The dialogue is cut off at the bottom of the screen when I set the game to widescreen. This is likely due to your resolution. You likely have a resolution of x and under. Due to an inherent issue with Kotor 2, this will cause the dialouge to be cut off. There are two possible fixes for this and both are not very elegant. Set the resolution to x You can also try changing the actual screen resolution in windows. I have not confirmed either of these fixes personally but have had second hand reports of them either working or causing a CTD.

Run the game as an administrator if you have issues. Ensure you have DirectX Runtimes installed. Sound Blaster cards, the new ones, can make use of Creative Alchemy. This is not drivers for the Sound Blaster cards, it is software that enables the Sound Blaster cards to somehow use their hardware.

The more newer ones that will work with Vista, they have a list or a link to a list of which ones are compatible. I don't have the box anymore and Vista only tells me its a Sound Blaster X-Fi but I know something was after that on the box. With this program you will need the current drivers of sound blaster for vista installed.

I had a Realtek High Definition Sound card too. I was very mad when I found out what Microsoft had done. They are using a new sound whatever. They took the support for 3d sound or hardware sound, or whatever it was, out of the coding of the operating system completely! They now use OpenAL.

So unhappy as I was about it I went and bought a new sound card after I found the alchemy web page and it works. But Not every game works with it yet. I think creative or whoever is working on it has to do something for each game they want to make work.

Hence Empire at War will work with that, but not Forces of Corruption. You'd think they would work since they use the same sound engine, but I don't know for sure if they do. NeverWinterNights 2 wouldn't support anything but software either. And the game's programmers put in EAX capability. I think the Alchemy project may have added support for NWN2 by now. Unless Realtek has actually decided to do something with their cards like creative did.

I also sent a file the securom thingy generated to those people because my game cd kept saying to insert the original game disc. I had to wait a single day!

Can you believe it. I got an email with a link to a modified exe file and downloaded it. I did what they told me to do and I havn't had any more problems.

I am pasting the text of the email. I just downloaded from the link again and it downloaded the ziped file. I received the reply to my email in March. Just paste the link in the address bar and it should ask if you want to download the file. When I try to run after installing it a message comes up and says take the disc out of the drive and put the original one in.

I am using the original disc. I am attaching the zip file with the luanch anaylasis in it. Please fix this. Best Buy won't take games back that have been opened. Thanks for your time. From them: Hello. Thank you for your e-mail. Then click on the link below or copy and paste it into your web browser.

EXE' into the same folder and re-start the application. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us. I hope that my post has been at least somewhat useful. I knew I wasn't saying it right. Originally, the machine I've been using came with Vista Home Premium.

No video, or sound problems for that matter. After learning to hate Vista, I installed XP Pro and now I'm noticing flicker, lighting problems as though the lights were all shining behind the characters with none in front of them which ultimately lead to crashing within minutes.

I'm assuming it's a driver issue, since I wasn't using "official" nVidia drivers with Vista. Still, it ran fine in Vista without having to fix anything. Now everytime I load it I can play for 3mins max and then it says "this program is not responding. Would love to play that one too, and thanks to you 'blowmyface' I am now able to play TSL thank you ever so much for this one: edit: wheres the launcher thingie for kotor located?

I am not completely certain that this problem is Vista related.
